Evaluation!

How well does your product work? Does it do everything that you said it would do and does it do it well?
We were assigned a specific global issue, my partner Lena and I were assigned biodiversity and ecosystem loss. we created an i web individually which was at least 6 pages long. I think that my i web included everything needed and gave the reader a good understanding of the specific topic. I think it includes all the things I said it would. My i web includes a variety of different things such as, pictures, videos, and a lot of useful information. I also included a quiz at the end for the reader to test themselves.

How well did you work at each stage of the design cycle?

Overall , I think I worked equally as good on each of the stages of the design cycle. I think I was focused and spent enough time working on each stage. I also think I worked at a good steady pace to complete and finish my work on time.

  • Investigation : I think I did enough research to complete my i web, brochure , animoto, and voice thread. I spent a reasonable amount researching and finding different sources to complete my project.
  • Design: For the design stage, I think I designed and organized my pages for i web in a suitable way to present my information and data such as the graph. I think I added a lot of variety to my work.
  • Plan: Overall, I planed my work well and gave it enough time to create a full and complete outcome of my project.
  • Create: I think I created a complete and good outcome of all my work. I am happy of what I have created and I hope that others learn from it.
  • Attitudes in Technology: I think my attitude toward technology has improved, and I became more interested in it.

What did you do well? What could you improve upon? What would you do differently...and why?
Overall, I think I put an equal amount of effort into all my work. I really liked both the final outcome of my iweb and my brochure. I think I could still improve on my investigation and add different designs or color to my iweb to make it more affective.

Explain the impact of your product on;
  • Yourself:During this project,I have learned a lot of information and facts about biodiversity and ecosystem loss. Before this project I didn't know what this topic meant, but now i know a lot more and i find it very useful!
  • Others: I hope this project and my research helps others to recognize this topic anf for them to try to help.
  • The environment/society: I hope that this spreads the topic around the world or to just a few a people to let them know about this and how to help and how important it actually is to our environment and society.

Brochure & Group Screen Shots!

This is the front page of my brochure. It gives the main idea of biodiversity and ecosystem loss and it mentions the three main types of biodiversity. It is basically a brief explanation!

This is my second and final page in my brochure. It is more detailed, it contains the definition of the three different types of biodiversity. It also mentions why biodiversity is a concern.

This is one of the groups i decided to join on facebook , it's about Biodiversity. There are currently only 58 members. They are spreading biodiversity to let people know about it.

Screen Shots!

This is my first page that I have created, it mainly introduces the subject. biodiversity and ecosystem loss.

This page shows a graph of how biodiversity has increased.

This page shows different photos that presents biodiversity.

This page includes a video about biodiversity from youtube and a breif explanation of what it's about.

This page is a quiz about biodiversity and ecosystem loss , you can take it after reading through.

This page includes a video about biodiversity. I took this from youtube.

The last page includes some groups about biodiversity and ecosystem loss from facebook.

Investigation- Mind Map!

Blog Number Four- Biodiversity!

Biodiversity Article- Science Daily

Here is the article -> Link

This article mentions the three different types of biodiversity :
1)Genetic Diversity
2)Species Diversity
3)Ecosystem Diversity

It also gives a brief explanation of each type of biodiversity.

Definition of Genetic Diversity: Genetic Diversity is a level of biodiversity that refers to the total number of genetic characteristics in what makes or forms species.

Definition of Species Diversity: Species Diversity refers to the number of species in one location.

Definition of Ecosystem Diversity: Ecosystem Diversity refers to the diversity of a place and it's ecosystems.

Biodiversity-Investigation!

Biodiversity

Definition: Biodiversity reflects the number, variety, variability of living organisms. It includes diversity within species, between species and among ecosystems.

Biodiversity is important in all ecosystems, not only in those who are natural such as national parks or national preserves, but also the ones that are managed by humans such as farms, plantations and even urban parks. Biodiversity is basically the basis of the multiple benefits provided by the ecosystems to humans.
Biodiversity is found both on land and in water. Many organisms such as microscopic bacteria and plants and animals are included in Biodiversity. Biodiversity plays an important role in how ecosystems work and the services they provide to humans.

Questions and Answers

1) Why is biodiversity loss a concern?
Biodiversity loss is a concern because it has many negative affects on humans. It affects many things such as :
[1] Food security : Biodiversity is usually when they increase food security and the adaptability to communities. We can try to solve this problem by Farming. Farming helps maintain and make use of agricultural biodiversity which can improve food security.
[2] Health: A variety of food is needed to form a healthy diet, Which depends on biodiversity. About 7,000 species of plants and several hundred species of animals have been used for humans a one time or another. Greater wildlife diversity may decrease the spread of many wildlife viruses to humans.
[3]Clean Water: The loss of forests and the destruction of watersheds reduce the quality and availability of water to household uses and agriculture. Protecting the ecosystem to continue the supply of clean water was more affective than building a water filtration plant.

2) What factors lead to biodiversity loss?
Biodiversity loss has been lead by many factors. Biodiversity has been going down rapidly due to factors such as land use change, climate change, pollution and mainly habitat such as fragmentation of forests, etc.. In certain regions, recently changes in climate have already shown significant changes in biodiversity and ecosystem loss.

3) How can we let all people be aware of this issue and try to help?
To let all people be aware of the issue "biodiversity and ecosystem loss", we an hold campaigns to help spread awareness. Crop management can also be used to help prevent this issue.

4
What actions can be taken to prevent biodiversity? ) How is biodiversity affected?
Biodiversity is affected in many ways:
[1]Population: Growth of human population is a major fact. More people and there are less resources to meet their needs.

[2]Affluence(abundance of money, property, and other material goods):
"The high standard of living that accompanies the increased production and consumption of goods is the major cause of pollution and environmental degradation."

6)How does biodiversity affect the Earth?

Blog Number Three.

What are the first Global Issues facing the world today?

1. Global warming/Climate Change : global warming is the increase in the average temperature of the Earth's near-surface air and ocean.

2. Biodiversity and ecosystem losses: How much plant and animal life there is in one ecosystem.

3. Fisheries depletion: Many different types of fish are becoming instinct and they are decreasing, there a re no t enough of them to cover the human population.

4. Deforestation: is the logging or burning of trees in forested areas.

5. Water deficits
: Water crisis is is the world's water resources relative to human demand.

6. The Oceans - Maritime safety and pollution: This is when litter and trash is thrown into the ocean.

7. Poverty - Massive step-up in the fight against poverty :Poverty is the shortage of common things such as food, clothing, shelter, and safe drinking water. all of which determine our quality of life.

8. Conflict Resolution - Peacekeeping, conflict prevention.

9. Education - Education for all: Education can be seen as a product or a process and considered in a broad sense or a technical sense.

10. Diseases - Global infectious diseases
: Dis eases is when a virus spreads and wipes out many of the population. However many people may not get effected by this virus because t hey might be immune.

11) Digital Divide: The term digital divide refers to the gap between people with affective access to digital and information technology or those with very limited or no access at all.

12. Natural Disaster prevention and mitigation: This is when humans try to prevent natural disasters from happening.
